Members of the Raff family have lived in Degerloch ever since Christoph Raph  (1535-1591) moved there from Nagold.

Numbers and facts about Degerloch:

 The urban district Degerloch with the quarter yard field counts 16,700 inhabitants, covers a total area of 807 hectars, about which alone 284 hectars are woodlands. Degerloch applies in the city as a preferential populated area. With the TV tower Degerloch possesses the highest building of Stuttgart. The height up to the antenna point amounts to 217 m.

History of Degerloch:

Degerloch is of alemannischen origin and was mentioned for the first time in the year 1100 under the name " Tegerloch " urkundlich . " Teger " means strongly and extensively " "loch " forest, together the meaning is "extensive forest".. 

Actually the place in 3rd to 6th Century  is after the research. based on  records of the alemannischen kinship village Moehringen in the midst of a large forest. 

The separation of the village from the Pfarrverband Moehringen and the establishment of the own church in the year 1468 represents an important historical event for the further development of Degerloch. 

Degerloch is down-burned in the war of the Esslinger against Wuerttemberg 1449 by the Esslingern. 

Whether it became then the farmer war, the dreissigjaehrige war, which franzoesichen robbery wars or the French revolution war again and again Degerloch  would pull through the war s that afflicted it. These troubled times were shaped by illness, hunger and war.With the initialization of the rack railway 1884 the modern time began for Degerloch. 

In the middle 19th century Degerloch attained the reputation of  "high air health resort" as the traffic from nearby Stuttgart  expanded to this area..

Numerous natives of Stuttgart pulled on the southern height, where in the area Melitta -, nail route and the wayway way in rapid consequence mansions were built.

On 1 August 1908  the history of the independent municipality Degerloch ended with its incorporation to the state capital Stuttgart.  Despite rapid increasing of the total population Degerloch retained its self-sufficiency, which comes among other things into a very intensive and various association and community life to the printout.
